WELCOME BACK EES FAMILIES !!!
I am so excited to start our school year with fun and engaging activities for your child!!
For those families that are new to our program, our goal at LEAPS is to provide high quality extra curricular activities that are enriching and engaging. The first Trimester (Fall Session) is going to be a little tricky as we do not have the staff to run the same amount of activities as we have had in the past. Please be patient and know that if we can add on programming as the first trimester moves along we will. We will do our best to accommodate as many students and days as possible.
We are continuing our collaboration with Snyder’s Academy of Tae Kwon Do as well. Students in the 2nd grade and up Tae Kwon Do group will have a snack before class. The 2nd & up TKD class students need to be picked up by 3:50pm. The Little Dragons group (K-1) will have snack, recess and time to change before being brought to the gym at 4:00pm.
Below are your must knows:
If your child participates in Tae Kwon Do (2nd grade & up), their pick up time is 3:50pm
LEAPS pick up time is no later than 4:45pm
Registration forms are due back Monday, September 9th
Please help your child pick out activities that they are genuinely interested in.
LEAPS Behavior Expectations
Students will:
1. Do their best
2. Be Safe
3. Treat others with kindness and respect.
4. Follow school-day rules and expectations
LEAPS uses a restorative/personalized approach in supporting youth to meet behavior expectations. We want all youth, families and staff to have a sense of belonging and safety in our programs. If a participant has difficulty with LEAPS behavior expectations the following steps will be taken to assist youth with self-control and to keep a safe and supportive environment for everyone:
1. Youth will be given a reminder to correct the behavior and given support to meet behavioral expectations (E.g., a body break, quiet space, chat with a staff member).
2. If the behavior continues, the youth will be removed from the activity and sent to the office or the site coordinator for a break. Staff will call the parents/guardians to check-in about the youth.
3. In extreme situations where a youth is engaging in verbal or physical aggression, and/or is engaging in unsafe actions, a parent/guardian will be notified and the youth sent home. This may result in removal from the program for a period of time. Parents/guardians will then have a meeting with the principal and Site Coordinator to create a plan for the youth to return successfully.
